What is the Household Support Fund?

Southampton City Council has been allocated £2.2 million to support those most in need with the cost of essentials via the Household Support Fund. This funding covers the period 1 October 2024 to 31 March 2025.

The Household Support Fund is there to help low-income households, including families with children of all ages, pensioners, unpaid carers, care leavers and disabled people, larger families, single-person households and those struggling with one-off financial shocks or unforeseen events.

How the Household Support Fund is being spent locally

Funding has been allocated by Southampton City Council to support a range of services, charities, and community organisations across the city who are working to help those most in need with practical support such as food, clothing, energy and welfare advice.  This approach has been taken to make sure residents facing hardship receive the right support at the right time.
