Mental Health Caseworker

Citizens Advice Southampton is looking for a new Mental Health Caseworker


Hours: 22.5 hours per week

Salary £23-25,000 FTE, depending on experience (based on a full time week of 37.5
hours)

Contract type: Fixed term currently funded for one year, but may be extended in line
with funding

Location: The role will be partly office/home-based, but will also involve regular
advice delivery within the mental health inpatient wards at Antelope House,
Southampton

and impartial advice to over 7,000 people in Southampton every year on any problems they
might face.

The Role
The aim of this project is to remove barriers to mental health recovery and/or risk factors for
future poor mental health, by addressing underlying issues with debt/finance, housing,
employment, relationships and so on. The Mental Health Project Caseworker will deliver
advice to people with mental health issues, on these areas (which are core advice areas for
Citizens Advice).


This role is subject to an enhanced DBS check.

About You
You’ll need to be a strong communicator with a good understanding of the core social welfare
enquiry areas of welfare benefits, money advice, housing, employment, family and
immigration. You will have experience of supporting people with mental health conditions, and
the empathy and motivation to provide expert advice to people experiencing mental ill health.
The successful applicant will be required to travel across the City, therefore appropriate
transport (which may include active travel or public transport, by agreement) is a requirement
for the role. Travel expenses will be reimbursed.
